Meiki Real drying/cleaning problems
« on: September 12, 2015, 12:09:29 AM »
I'm loving the toy itself, but I'm a little confused about the cleaning process. I followed the instructions that came with it to the letter, but it doesn't feel like that does a very good job. The toy is a little too tight for rinsing with water to seem like much of a cleaning solution. I also submerged it in water and squeezed several times to try and flush stuff out. Is that really all there is to it?

Second and probably the most important issue is that it doesn't seem to dry very fast. I last used it 6 hours ago and it's still wet inside. Doesn't this introduce seriously harmful bacteria the longer it sits wet inside, and it is normal for it to take this long to dry? Is there a method I can use for this specific toy that will make it dry faster? I appreciate any help I can get here, guys. Thanks!

For drying, I usually try to get all the water out and then use a paper towel and try to soak up any excess water. after that I just leave my toys face down on a rack an let it just sit there for a day or two. I also use anti bacteria cleaner on it just in case.

I KNOW that I am going to receive a lot of disagreement, but I turn my fleshlights, meikis, and cyclone sa inserts all inside out for washing. I then wash them with luke warm water, sometimes with a little hand soap. I then dry them with a regular terrycloth towel. I have been doing this for at least six months without any tears. But even if I get tears, I would rather clean my toys this way, replace them when needed, and know that all toys are dry and mold and bacteria free.
Also, the cyclone sa that I bought around 4 months ago has become my "go to" toy. That monster can milk me dry like no other toy I have ever had!

I don't turn mine inside out unless I know that particular toy I'm using is durable enough or if I can be gentle enough to do so. But if your able to do it without tearing it, yes..it will be the best way to dry the interior of the toy for sure. ;D

What I generally do is rinse it while using a finger as a scrubber to unhinge any gunk.  I try not to use even clothe to scrub or dry things because they're generally just too rough and can leave lint behind.  I wouldn't turn these toys inside out, it will definitely add to wear and tear, especially with the dual layered nature of these toys it's just common sense.

A blower fan is the best and quickest way to dry out these types of toys.  Give em a good shake before drying, spread them open and hold it right in front of a blower fan until completely dry, run your finger through it to move around any moisture trapped in crevices. Then once fully dry, generously coat the whole thing in talcum powder, including the inside.  This will absorb any microscopic bits of moisture, moisture from the air, keep dust particles from attaching, etc.  If you do all of this, your toy should last years.   If you don't, it'll start degrading and feeling nasty and dirty in just a few months.

Either buy a blower fan, or something like an air conditioner will have a blower fan.  the basic need is to have a large volume of focused air flow to blow through the toy, that's why regular fans don't cut it.  A cheap hair dryer without the heat is a good alternative, but actual blower fans are just nice to have in general, way better for summers than regular box fans.

You can use either antibacterial hand soap in liquid form, or bar soap like dial antibacterial.  Try not to use degreasers like dish soap since they can remove the natural oils in the material, which can cause a lot of different issues.  The damage they cause won't be apparent at first, but they will change the feel of your toy and even cause it to get water logged because the oils are being replaced by water moisture.

If you really want to be lazy, I suppose a properly sized microfiber sponge (they sell them at dollar stores for $1) could work well without causing damage or being rough.  They're basically just sponges wrapped in microfiber cloth with mop like appendages, which would really help getting in as many crevices as possible.   You would probably have to cut it up to make it the proper size, cause they're typically bulky.
