What to do with all these boxes?
« on: December 04, 2012, 12:34:47 AM »

 Egh???

What do yah do with em? Do you guys keep them or secretly obliterate them to hide the evidence?

Sure these toy boxes look cool and enticing sometimes with those wide eyed smiling beauties staring you in the face but man I can't keep this stuff. I'd look like some kind of Hoarder pervert guy if anyone ever found out where I hide them. Not to mention I need my little storage space back. Now I know how the guy who buried the Chinese mushrooms felt. Trying to get rid of naughty stuff is like a mobster trying to dispose of a dead body. You don't want to be seen and you don't want to be caught.

I imagine myself probably dressing up something like a ninja and sneaking out at the crack of dawn to dispose of these toy boxes.

That Meiki Plush really tied the room together.

While its unseemly to do this often,if you make a quick swing by most apartment complexes, you can use the communal dumpster there without much issue.

If you wanted to keep the boxes? I dunno. I mean you can get images of almost all that you buy here on store or in reviews. If one really rocked you, take pics of it yourself or better yet, scan it.

Im with you, a stack of them would probably scare anyone who came across them and the actual usefulness of this hoarding would be low in my estimation.

I applaud them for package design though. It really feels like you have a quality product in your hand when it seems they do so much to showcase it.

Hah, it is like you read my mind since I was thinking about this yesterday and was going to start a thread on it.

I was thinking I would just cut them up into tiny pieces and throw them in the weekly garbage or maybe cut them up and throw them in some public trash can. I debated burning them.

I'm not a big fan of these meiki boxes. Sure they may look nice but as we see, they have no discretion. Maybe in those Asian countries chucking out these types of boxes is no biggie.

I also have some toys I need to get rid of so maybe when I get rid of them I will get rid of the boxes. Would be an interesting find if someone went garbage looting.

I too find the boxes to be very attractive initially; but after they sit on the shelf of my closet for a few weeks, I eventually have to toss them out to make space for new toys. Fortunately, I don't have to hide them from my parents or relatives since I live in my own home. However, if any visitors are expected, then I do need to put my stuff out of sight. Oh crap! That reminds me. The cable guy is coming by the house today to fix my HBO channels so I need to put my newly arrived Meiki away that just happens to be sitting near the computer and the cable modem.

i never really thought about it until you guys mentioned it.

I just have a big cardboard box that put all my boxes in and put them away. It's out of sight and not in the way. If I ever want to take them out for some reason, then I can.

I do see how this is different as you can't really resell this like say if it's an iPad box where you can put it back into the box and resell it.

I have mine scattered throughout the world, my own little trail of crumbs to follow in case I ever stray too far from home.

I never expected to end up with a bunch of Meiki boxes but you know... it happens. These boxes do have some crazy quality on them. Especially Ero Chika's box and the Hanaku series (however you spell it).

I imagine myself 40 years from now with a shelf full of meiki boxes on one of those antique shows going... Ah, Maria Ozawa you say? Yes... I have her right here... this is vintage from 2011. They only made several of these this box still has the original poster and lube that came with it. They say one bottle last a life time... and it has.

Can you tell us how you came to own this piece?

Well my great great grandfather  passed it down through the family. We've had it for ages.

Host: Uh, gross.

"Now that I think about it. Yeah."

Awkward silence.

Distant Future Antique's Roadshow:

"Now these particular items have a very peculiar history behind them, one of the prime reasons they are so sought after in the antiques community. Thousands of years ago, primitive humans frequented online caves called 'forums', places not unlike the Starbucks we visit every day. In these 'forums', early humans could connect and share joint experiences anonymously. Well, it turns out that some of our best evidence behind major population shifts and a global decline in birthrates (beginning in Japan) can be directly traced to archived forum material from two or three individuals. The first pioneers, who went by Sextoyjunkie and Hardgay, unwittingly document this pivotal shift in human sexuality. Through these 'forum posts', which are not unlike a friendly Buck at the local Star's, we can piece together why human males eventually turned away from their female counterparts."

I cut up some boxes yesterday (including a box from my very first toy that I got almost 10 years ago) into tiny pieces and threw them in a shopping bag. This will make it easy to chuck the bag into the garbage and be done with this.

*sigh*

I keep the ones that are well done.

To keep things compact, I remove the inner packaging material, and flatten the box up.
Also, since there are 4 sides to the box, i'd usually cut away the ones not relevant (cant read japanese hah) and throw those out

It's been piling up under my bed (call me typical) and dont know what now :|
