Website feedback needed
« on: February 24, 2010, 08:49:02 AM »
We've been working on the next version (3rd generation) of our site. There have been some good suggestions in the suggestion forum but we still want to ask everyone's opinion. Maybe not everything will make it depending on the technology needed but please let us know about anything on your mind.

Wow, a third ToyDemon site??? This one was already so much better than the first one. I can't wait to see what the third one looks like!

As for suggestions:

1. Better cart/checkout system?

For example, I see an item I like, I want to be able to add it to cart without the site taking me away from my current browsing in which I have to click back or click thru the numerous tabs and links to get back to what I was reading. Also, 1 page checkout would be nice, so I don't have to repeat all kinds of information.

2. Better review system?

The reviews are nice for looking at customer feedback, however, I have to read thru all of them just to find out which are the bad comments. I'd like to see individual ratings and can go to the negative reviews to know what's bad about the item.

Two things I can think of so far. I will add to it if I can think of some more. If you guys can do all these things in the next site.......TD for life!!!!  ;D

Well, the way it is set up right now you can't cancel your order if you buy anonymously, could be a nice feature to implement in the case of someone changing their mind or something.

I would keep reviews & comments separate. I see alot of chatter in the reviews section and each comment means there was a review point attached to it.

Definitely have to keep those people who asks questions and chats in the review section out..or somehow point them to the forum instead of posting a bunch of useless information in the review section.. I suppose TD can maybe set up a system where all reviews have to be approved by TD before it's posted or something.

I would think maybe one thing would be a news box on the front page so we might get a better update information on what's new etc.. instead of having to goto the News section in forum and twitter all the time haha. :P

I definitely agree that TD should moderate the reviews because for some of the products, the comments made by viewers are not even informative reviews at all.

I know that some computer hardware sites (such as Logitech) where it has a link to user generated or community generated reviews that are not on the site itself. So maybe a link to the forum will encourage more forum usage and a livelier community.

If News Update is a concerning matter then I think a RSS Feed is nice. I don't mind the Twitter or forum thing though. The email newsletter does a good job itself.

I liked the idea with being able to view pictures by simply doing a mouse over, but I think having the ability to zoom in as well for those smaller details would be nice.

Dang already????? You guys just updated to 2.0 not too long ago haha i would love to help and make this site better, i love ordering from you guys.
Here is my opinion for to make site better.

1. Videos of TD using product(s) like most Japanese sites sell their toys so you can see what you are buying.

2. Toydemon.com staff review

3. A new skin for the forums and more options (i know this is not regarding to the main site but just to dress up the forums too)

4. Main RSS Feed on toydemon itself cause many people may not have twitter accounts

5. Toy release dates (if possible)

6. Toydemon Customer Chat Service

7. Diff color skins for main site and forums

8. DVD trailers from japanese xxx movies you guys sell

9. use same account to login forums/store front with your avatar showing

10. Flash site

That would be cool if you guys had all of that added i love TD. TD forever!!

hm... Flash site might not be a good idea now that HTML 5.0 is making its advances with a very sharp knife. Adobe will feel the pain.

I'm pretty comfortable with everything here, but the only thing that I can think of (at the moment) is probably a more intuitive "notify me when available" option on sold out products. I figured out how to do it back when the R1/A10 combo was out of stock (I love it, by the way) but I couldn't remember how to do it a few days ago when I was thinking about purchasing the Seventeen Evo (ended up going for the Story EXP).

So, summarize, a more intuitive notification system for sold out items. ;)

I'd really like it if TD started supporting HTML 5.0, any web browser to date (besides IE 7 I believe) supports it.

The ability to zoom in on the detail would be invaluable, I hope that is a feature you'll be adding.
discount cards- "buy 10 Meiki, get 1 free", or something similar.
a wish list feature that also has in-stock/out of stock inventory notification on your wish list items
cross section pics at different angles and more cross section pics
clips of the dvds you sell would be useful in choosing, box art can be misleading
be able to view all the products from a category on one page, instead of having to scroll through them

Here's an insane idea: how bout a 360 gallery? where you can rotate (but not zoom in because that's just too expensive) to few the toy from all angles!

Thanks for all the comments. Although we haven't respond much on this thread, we constantly monitor all the suggestions. These are all really great stuff. We may not be able to implement every suggestion here (maybe save it for the next next generation :)) Things like html 5 is still new and we will have to wait before making it a integrated part of the site outside of the new forms functions. Many of our customer are still visiting us on IE and IE benchmarked the slowest on html5 features.
