My favorite toys all seem to suffer from dry rot, despite proper cleaning.

I don't use any chemical cleansers.

Somehow the exterior of the toys suffers from dry rot (think of a wrinkly patch)

Any advice on preventing this in future?

I'm assuming you use a solder to smooth out the surface.

do you have any pictures of this?   I wonder what it is.... but I suppose if the interior isnt having the same issue.. it wouldn't be a big problem for me.

that's a bit frightening, because I certainly don't have that and I hope I don't in the future.

haven't seen anything unusual on mine yet - wrinkly patch??  what do you wrap it in or what do you lay it on?  I did notice once that part of the outside had picked up an unusual texture but figured that it was from the towel that I had it in.  changed to a smooth and soft towel and it cleared up  *whew*
