Trouble drying out the Meiki Cherry 2...
« on: October 19, 2017, 01:36:18 AM »
I'm really lost, I've had the Meiki Cherry 2 for 3 days now and since i cleaned it (to get rid of factory smell) i have had so much trouble drying it out. After 48 hours it's still wet at the back of both canals. It's canals are so tight and have a lot of bumps and zigzags where air can't get in to dry it out. I also have a Microfibre cloth but i can't get it in there at all because i don't want to tear anything in the Cherry. If anyone is a pro at cleaning and drying theirs or know some tips please help me lol...

So... I have anti-bacterial cleaner and microfibre cloth, also getting a sponge bottle brush because that's apparently good too, I just really need to know the strategy of cleaning and (most of all) drying it.

Thanks for any responses :/

for drying in tight spots and hard to reach for cloth, go back to the basics? try tearing up shreds of paper towel which are thinner and    push it in to reach tighter end, let it soak it up, fish them out and repeat until paper comes out dry. then if being is discreet isn't needed then just have the thing air dry a bit more afterwards for good measure.

The hips are a particularly difficult challenge to dry completely. The Meiki Extreme Pleasure Hip has a cavity deep inside the vaginal canal that resists all my efforts at mopping up remaining moisture. Even after my best try, I can still hear liquid sloshing around inside.

So here's my take on this - I use an antibacterial toy cleaner and dry it as best I can without undue stretching and stressing of the silicone. Yes, it still remains damp, but in the seven years I've been using this approach, I've not had any mold or suspicious looking deposits or growths form inside my toys, nor have I suffered any skin rashes or irritations.

And if you are really concerned about infections, use a condom. It lets you last longer and makes cleaning up much easier.

The cherry 2 is built like a tank. The anal cavity will tear at the very first opening regardless of how gentle you are. But the vaginal canal is tough as nails man. I wouldn't be at all afraid to stuff a bottle cleaner in there. I've had mine for like 3 years now. You have to almost be trying to tear it up I think. Just keep at it. You'll find something that works for you.

Another tip is clean it before and after use. That's what I do. I use a bucket of hot water to warm the toy up anyway. So before I bring it out I just clean the insides best I can before use. I don't think you can ever get them 100% dry. A mop bucket with a smooth flat bottom works great. Turn the toy upside down and it will suction to the bottom holding it in the water.

from what I've observed, it's not necessarily the "dryness" that keeps the toy sanitary..  environmental parameters and frequency of use are the main factors.  the thin water-based lubricants usually contain a bit of sodium hydroxide which elevates the PH thus excluding a good proportion of opportunistic bacteria and yeasts (molds can thrive up to a PH of 8.)  as long as there's no organic matter present and the environment is frequently disturbed, the microbes shouldn't multiply, which brings me to the "frequency of use" point.  although I've discovered the easiest way in the world to clean toys of any size (hint:  wine bottle!,) I find myself preferring to finish outside rather than in, except on the day that I intend to clean them.  often they'll go for a week or two between cleanings owing to the fact that they're simply stewing in mildly alkaline fluids with the occasional "vigorous stirring".

The thicker lubricants tend to have a lot of insoluble fiber (critter-food!) and may not even include alkaline ingredients, so microbes tend to show up very quickly with them.  I stopped using them except in the shower because that's the only time they will readily wash off, immediately after which I give the toy a wine bottle treatment.  In fact it was the thick lubricants that almost ruined one of my toys that I didn't get around to washing soon enough, though I was able to restore it by adding ~10 drops of food-grade 35% hydrogen peroxide to the wash mix w/ a little baking soda and unscented "sensitive skin" laundry detergent.

The Cherry 2 is tough and presents no problem when cleaning through a variety of methods, though I've found that if you've just cleaned it and it retains a bit of water moisture for a few days it'll start to smell, and the way to avoid this is next time you wash it just add some of the aforementioned thin water-based lubricant soon after soaking up the rinse water with a roll of absorbent material, spread it around in the usual manner (heh) so there are no places where it has water moisture alone, and don't go for too long without playing with it  =P
