assessment of non USA (or even states) prohibition issues?
« on: October 30, 2015, 03:46:54 AM »
I would like to read on this forum professional (TD's own lawyers)) and customers real life experiences of any confiscation at foreign or domestic borders.

My understanding is that there are several US states that prohibit sex toys, that there are limitations on fantasy objects in Canada/Australia/UK  and certainly many Islamic states criminalize masturbators.

So, what is TD's understanding of the global enforcement of domestic and foreign laws (clear or ambiguous/subjective legal situation and actual enforcement? Most useful would be transparent disclosure of where and when (month and tear good enough) where sex toys shipped by TD have been officially intercepted and seized. And what those products were.

Hi Hermes,

I'm Canadian and have bought several Meikis (ZXY, YJY, Maria Ozawa, Sarah, Eiro Chika) from Toydemon with no issues thus far. However I did purchase a La Bocca Della Verita during the recent Black Friday sale (along with a few other sleeves), and now that I think about, the packaging could definitely be deemed inappropriate. I'm slightly paranoid about it now and am wondering if it will be confiscated by CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency). The most recent tracking information I have on the parcel is that it was received by CBSA this evening and is awaiting further processing. I will post an update once I receive the package.

I'd also like to second Hermes' request for confiscation info; it's definitely something to think about if you're a non-US buyer.

We apologize, but our lawyers would not know what customs would do in another country, due to the fact that there is no way to tell what customs will actually do. We suggest contacting your local facility about your inquiry. We also suggest not ordering if you do not feel comfortable and think that customs may seize of confiscate your package.

And...?

BTW, a friend in Malaysia had his Hera Hip Mini seized by Customs as being 'obscene' (the equivalent word in Bahasa Melayu). If there was an option to contest it I am not aware. This is a huge cost, posting such heavy sex toys to countries where laws and enforcement are different.

I wonder if a country has strict laws against sex toys, would even removing the packaging from the product be worth trying to get the product in? I'd think when custom inspect the package they'd seize it anyways with or without package.

Too many dumb laws globally, i heard a while back Mississippi, Alabama and a few other states made sex toys illegal, but this was years ago alot has probably changed since then.

In the US, only Alabama criminalizes the sale and possession of sex toys.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Obscenity_Enforcement_Act

I have taken my sextons in checked bags to India and Canada and never had a problem.

Hi Hermes, stuff gotr pretty hectic over the past couple of months and I haven't had much time to respond, let alone relax. I am happy to report that my order cleared Customs with no issue, but I was obviously quite concerned while I waited. Lesson learned; if you have any doubts whatsoever that the packaging might not pass whatever laws are applicable in your country or state, then you should probably not order it (as per Toydemon's response earlier in this thread).
