Condom for toys?
« on: August 06, 2014, 04:45:33 AM »
Hello guys,

Does anyone know what type of condom is best for meiki and the like? I read somewhere all natural condom is quite good but the thing is this condom is pre-lubricated and it is unlikely they use water based lubrication. Any suggestion? Thanks.

I've only personally tried using condom on my very first toy which was a tenga cup... and at that time not knowing what silicon lube would do to a toy...the tenga material turned all soggy and sticky after use..like it's melting... I have not wore a condom to use with my toy after that...EVER.. I think unless a condom specifically says water based lube on it...otherwise keep it away from the toys. most prelubed japanese condoms are silicone based lube i think. :-\

Hmm, I used some Crown Silicone based condoms on my Tenga and it was fine. Of course I used a lot of water based lubed along with it and washed it out with warm water after every use. But I didn't notice any deterioration while I was using it... But I'll be sure not to use them on my more expensive toys I guess.

I would suggest doing a web search on your preferred condom first to see what if any lubricate is used - that will be the best answer.  With that, the Polyisoprene condoms, or non-latex condoms, would be your best option as they specifically indicate NOT to use oil based lubricants, only water based lubricants with them - hence the lubrication on them would be water based.  The LifeStyles "Skyns" condom is one such non-latex version, I find them very comfortable, they allow sensitivity, and are well priced and affordable (all my personal opinion as a choice of condom much like a choice of 'toy' is all a matter of personal experience).   One thing I have not found any information on regarding the use of condom treatments and 'toys' is the spermacide (if included on the condom by the manufacturer) and any adverse interactions.  When I have used one, I have used the "Skyns" from LifeStyles along with waterbased lubricant from Toys Heart (Vanessa) and have encountered no issues to date.

As noted by others in this forum, if you apply a bit of water based lubricant as you would when not using the condom, that would pretty much be what is in contact anyway with the 'toy', a good cleaning as you should anyway afterwards will also insure any residue is washed away.

So, with all of that - do a web search (google), use a non-latex condom, use water based lubricant in addition to what is on the condom, and do a good washing when done.

You need either a non-lubricated or water-based lubricant condom -- of which there are not that many.  Some possibilities:

- Trojan-Enz (red) - non-lubricated

- Trojan Regular (red) - non-lubricated, plain-end (possibly out of production)

- Trojan-Enz (light blue) - water-based lubricant

- Beyond Seven Aloe - water-based lubricant (currently sold by ToyDemon)

- Kimono Aqua Lube - water-based lubricant (currently sold by ToyDemon)

- LifeStyles Ultra Sensitive Non-Lubricated

- Lifestyles Kiss of Mint - non-lubricated

- Trustex Colored Non-Lubricated Condoms

- Trustex Non-Lubricated Mint Flavored

- Durex Non-Lubricated Natural Feeling

You'll be lucky if you find more than one of these in a typical US pharmacy.
