Avoid Tengas, get something else, like Meikis.
« on: April 08, 2014, 10:35:51 PM »
Before I bash Tenga, I applaud Tenga for making toys accessible to people like me who don't find vagina replica appealing. Tenga is the brand that got me interested in toys but Tengas I've tried are awful in design execution.

I'm new to toys. I shouldn't have judge a book by its cover because sleeves that works for you, are great. Tenga is the brand that got me interested, but is ironically, the brand I like least now.

The Good: Tenga 3D

Tenga 3D Spiral was my first toy. I was amazed how good it felt compared to just soap in the shower. Its textures and material, however artificial, felt great massaging nerves. I then tried its LE Hard Gel Zen variant which was not as good.

Tenga 3D's material is great. I've noticed many sleeves become sticky and stick to skin like tapes. Using one in that sticky state would be like putting a tape on skin, peeling the tape off, and repeating that process over and over. But you won't notice during use, and will feel it the next day. Tenga 3D's material is very different from the rest of the pack. It simply never gets sticky.

So, yes, I enjoyed Tenga 3D Spiral a lot. That is, until I tried other non-Tenga sleeves.

The Bad: Eggs and Cups

These are designed as disposables, but the funny thing is, they feel much better upon reuse.

Tenga Eggs offer good textural sensations, but I've discovered what feels great, is bulk and weight, softness, and a disconnect to my hand operating it. All which Tenga Eggs do not have. If you need something as small as a condom, these might be good. Tenga Eggs are very sticky. I pressed it inside out against the back of my hand and lift it. Its material actually pulled up my skin before letting go. It may cause irritation if you prefer long session of slow massages.

Tenga Cups are excriciatingly tight, for both size versions. All I could feel is tightness and nothing else. I can't feel any internal textures at all. These cups have a couple of problems. Its opening's rim is enclosed by a hard plastic ring which is painful against pelvis and a distraction. There need to provide at least an inch of soft material at the bottom of these cups to press against our pelvis. Also, these cups slide out, so I can't just relax my hand even for slow massages. I have to exert pulling it down even when holding it still.

I guess the real selling point of these cups is convenience, not how good they feel. No need to get lube, no need to clean up after.

I found an easy trick to remove Tenga Cup's locking ring for disassembly. Something users said is a pain to do. Just press on the casing close to its locking ring to make a dent, it'll create a huge gap for you to pull the ring off easily.

I like its Keith Harring editions, and managed trim off the part needed to remove its locking ring without tearing off wrapping. I also like it looking like Muji bathroom product after product wrapping were removed. And I don't find reusing them a hassle. I pre-cut a bunch of foam in one shot, and replace one for reach re-use, as lube do dip into foam. Despite having experimented all that, I threw them all out and don't intend on getting them again.

The Ugly: Tenga Flip Air U.S. Black

In a product review somewhere, someone rated a bunch of toys in the order he likes, with Tenga Flip Air U.S. Black being his favorite, and Maria Ozawa Meiki as his second. Since I prefer Tenga's aesthetics over a Meiki, I decided to give both Black and White a shot. After trying the Black, I don't even need to open my White to know it's useless.

First of all, I do not get the novelty idea of suction. Why does it matter? Is it only because we use the term "suck" to associate to oral sex? That was its concept of that air release button. But it does no good when, upon insertion, its flimsy hinge cracks open to create an air leak it can't seal off. I can ignore any vacuum gimmick it offers. But despite air flow through its hinge, it's still more comfortable to have its air vent open during insertion. However, its buttons are a hassle to press *and hold* down. And because it's frustratingly tight, I would intuitively press harder for easier insertion despite I don't need to as it doesn't help. Loud noises of its hinge cracking, air farts of its suction gimmick, and my fingers needing a brain, made using Flip Air such a distraction that within seconds, I'm far more aware of the product not working properly than any good porn the Flip Air muted with its extremely loud and annoying noises. To top it off, it doesn't feel good anyways.

In addition to those problems, it also share some same problems with Tenga Cups. No cushion to pelvis, and I need to exert force even when just holding it still.

When I slipped my two fingers in, it felt good. And when I was washing lube off it, its textures and materials felt good. If only my penis could feel whatever my fingers could feel. I'm pretty sure I'm average size with average girth, so that's not the problem. Maybe it's a material I don't respond to, maybe the fit wasn't right for me.

Try and find a fitting Meiki instead. Or Marc Dorcel Double Ended sleeve.

I just tried Meikino Hinkaku Up. It's good, but not as amazing as reviews had led me to believe. I can't feel any of its internal textures. However, just its bulk and weight that slides down onto my penis, its softness to grip both internally and externally, and its extra large cushion that's pressed against my pelvis, all add up to exceptional sessions. I won't try anything with a hard exterior shell again. I'm just gonna try Meikis till I find one which fits me. Which, again, ironically, would be something I would have never done if it weren't for Tenga opening the doors to toys for me.

Even though my Meiki didn't meet my unrealistic expectations, I was quite surprised how real its internals felt when I used a little foam soap to clean its inside. I think its front should be angled, but I've noticed that's how it is in all other Meikis. I'm curious of claims of tight Meikis. My fingers can feel how narrow its internal is. Yet, I slide right in effortlessly and can't feel any tightness at all. I just don't see how a material this soft with so much give can be tight. But tightness is not very important to me anyway.

ToyDemon should carry Marc Dorcel Double Ended sleeve. It feels nothing like a vagina but it feels amazingly great. Sleeves are massagers anyways, not vagina replacements. I can feel its internal textures massaging. It's thick enough that any cut on its material during cleaning ( which I flip inside out ) doesn't really matter. I tie rubber bands at different sections, and passing through those points makes it even much better than it already does. I like it far more than my new Meikino Hinkaku Up. The other opening also allow me to pour warm water in when lube runs dry, with no need to stop, pull out, add water, and hope it won't be a mess when I flip it to slide back in. None of that distraction and hassle. To get the feeling of a closed end, just squeeze the top during use.

In short, I'm gonna try more toys and hope I do find a Meiki that's for me. I've learned it's better to avoid hard shell designs. I'm posting to advice strongly against Tengas, and hope this helps prevent others wasting money on what I did go through. Tenga 3D Spiral is nice, but for a comparable product, I would recommend Marc Dorcel Double Ended sleeve which I prefer 100x more. Though Dorcel one is closer to my Meiki Up in size, it is closer to Tenga 3D at price point, discreetness, ease of cleaning, and so on. Tenga 3D Spiral could improve by a huge margin just by having a much thicker wall.

Or just splurge and get a Meiki for its softness. Penis simply prefer soft stuff, vaginas and boobs and whatnot. I know Tengas look really nice. Tenga's design aesthetics was what got me into toys. But in the end, it's how these toys feel during use.

I've also tried Hot Octopuss's Pulse, which is a piece of hi-tech junk. My review is the 5th reply in the link below, under "Andy" in reference to "Toy Story":

The black air is a piece of junk and I have not bothered using the cups yet it is IMO silly to suggest one avoid a whole company when you haven't even used every product they have. Using this type of logic I should say people avoid Meiki sleeves because the Meiki Sarah I used to have fell apart after a few uses and other dual layers also have durability issues and my Mari'a canal angles towards one side making a spot get very thin which could potentially lead to a poke-through.

The regular sized flip holes are great (red, white, black, silver is my order of preference) and as an overall toy I'd put them up against anything else out there. The 3D sleeves (I've owned them all) are also nice and are a good bang for the buck. I used to prefer them to the flip holes yet I now prefer the flip holes to them.

Do Meiki type sleeves feel better? In a way yes but it isn't so much better that the flip holes are not worth looking into and they are different enough to give solid variety which to me is important. If I want realism I go with my Maria and Clone Hoshino. If I want different style more direct stimulation that can lead to a more powerful orgasm I go with my flip holes. They're also IMO better overall toys since they are easier to clean, dry and are more durable. They're also better for hand stroking use given they don't flop.

Man.. I think it always comes down to this....different stroke for different folks... Stimulation vs realism, Hard silicone vs soft silicone, your stroke habits (smooth steady ride vs rough play) and also your manpart size plays into the equation too... I'm going to assume all these toys are made for asians in mind..not to say asians are small down there but westerners tends to be slightly larger in size.... so with that said.. if you have a above avg manpart, you like your toys rough, and want it realism (Soft Silicon)...there's a very good chance after a few sessions your going to have some slight tear to your toy.. :P

It's really hard to pinpoint a toy that just cater to all sizes and preferences  ::) I myself interchange my toys from Tenga flip hole, tenga 3d to meiki sisters and meiki ozawa. all have different size and softness but I'm used to going slow and steady strokes so  (knock on wood) so far my toys are still in relatively good shape.

As for tenga cups...it is what it is..a disposable toy for a price that wont damage your wallet... a few uses on those you can toss it unless your really good with taking them apart and cleaning those..

Ive been using the Tenga Flip Black edition and Fleshlight ( katsumi ) edition for over a year.  The tenga flip is the best out of the two and i found it to be very durable, i wrap the tenga flip in a pillow and pound the shit out of it like i would a dirty hooker and it still hasn't ripped or torn, and it feels amazing to boot.

my Meiki ZXY and La Bocca Della Verita just arrived today so i will be putting them to the test, i havent used them yet though they look like they would feel better, but in terms of cleaning and durability they look worse than the tenga.
