This is how I do the cleaning
« on: June 07, 2013, 06:30:22 PM »
Hello all,

How do you normally clean meiki particularly maria ozawa or other meiki like ZXY?
I normally wash it with soap and rinse it with high percentage of isopropyl alcohol in and out. On the cleaning instruction they tell you to air-dry which I find is completely impossible, it is not the same as fleshlight which has hole at the other end.

So I just stick my finger in and wipe my finger dry, stick it in again and wipe again until it dries. How do you clean your meiki so that you don't deteriorate particulary the opening area, it started to tear bit by bit.

Any suggestion is welcomed. Thanks!

I wash my meiki's with mild anti-bacterial hand soap and rinse thoroughly.  I use a microfiber clothe to dry it inside and out.  To dry the inside, I push a corner of the clothe into the meiki as far as I can get it.  I then lightly squeeze the exterior of the meiki so the microfiber clothe can absorb any water left inside the meiki.  Then I slowly pull the clothe out.

If I forget to dry the inside until the next day(s), I spray diluted isopropyl alcohol into the meiki and let it sit for a little while.  I then clean it again like above.  The goal here is to prevent mold and/or mildew from forming.

Hi SB,

Thanks for your reply.
I just found a way to clean it now. Similar to yours. Less time consuming, more effective and safer for Meiki than my old way. After wash meiki with mild soap, rinse with alcohol, get one chopstick, roll it with kitchen paper (not to thick but thick enough to absorb water). Open meiki with finger until it wide enough then insert the chopstick to the end (careful not to force it) and squeeze the meiki, pull the chopstick. Repeat it three times and it dries completely, awesome!

That sounds like the best method yet, and is what I'm gonna try with my new ZXY.

I'm new to all this, so I'm going to keep looking around.... maybe there's a FAQ on drying or a poll or two; if not, we could use them.  Most of the advice I've read boils down to:

  • 1. wash with water and usually soap too;
  • 2. rinse with water or mouthwash or alcohol;
  • 3. gently insert a piece of cloth, microfiber towel or paper towel (perhaps gently using a chopstick or some such tool to get it in there) and squeeze dry.

Some thoughts, based not on experience with Meikis but with medical devices and the like:

  • * Long-term effect of alcohol unknown:  alcohol will leech plasticizer, making plastics less flexible; this is why its use to clean vinyl records is discouraged.  In practice, is this a problem? Or is it worth the tradeoff in order to ensure cleanliness>
  • * Storing toys wet, with antiseptic liquid (as opposed to the usual method of dry, with cornstarch): mouthwash and/or lubes with antiseptic properties could work.  Even so, I'd still wash the toy out (twice) before using again.
  • * Are there are reliable, specific instructions on cleaning from the manufacturers, and if so, have they been translated into English?

cheers!

I rinse the toy's inside with just water thoroughly until "all's out", using fingers to reach and flushing water multiple times. then I wash the toy's exterior with organic soap. If you don't wash the exterior with some soap, some dust/black specks can form depending on material (which can be washed away with soap, but better to wash & prevent).

Then, if the toy can withstand turning inside out, I do that and dry the inside with microfiber towel,
then turn it back and dry the outside. perfectly dry for next use.

If it's better not to turn inside out (with expensive toys- just for caution, and with most big dual layer toys), I use something like the chopstick method above to dry the inside, pushing in microfiber towel.
In this case, I wash it with water again before using for peace of mind.
Top recommendations 1: Julia + (intense, realistic sensations at a not-so-intense price) 2: First Sexual Experience (personal favorite)
3: Wet Meiki SHIN (revolutionary soft but gripping material). Honorable Mention: Tomax 2D Wavy Ripple (great for transition hand-> toy)

Not every household has chopsticks, but the technique sounds logical  ;D

Wow, the chopstick technique sounds great haha.

Still, here's how I wash/rinse my Meikis. I'm biased, but I think it's effortless.

1. Meiki facing up, turn the faucet on.
2. Insert both of your thumbs into the opening and spread the lips apart
3. Keep your thumbs in, and direct the opening under the faucet.
4. With the water running, use both of your thumb to make a 'bicycling' motion that digs deeper into the Meiki.
5. While doing #4, use your hand to compress the Meiki downward, exposing more of the insides to running water.
6. After a few secs, all the leftover liquid should've been rinsed out and repeat with soap.

The basic Idea is to expose the inside surface to running water as much as possible. I do this by using my thumbs as an agitator that first takes advantage of the lubrication to get in, which will then get washed away by the water.

Is this confusing? Tried to word it correctly, but it's a tad bit difficult hah.
