Why do people still buy cheap toys when they own expensive ones?
« on: March 01, 2013, 11:28:29 PM »
Hey everyone,

I was just wondering.. why do people still buy cheaper sex toys when they own the elite ones? For example, if I own Nao, XYZ, Maria, Hip, etc... what incentive do I have to purchase one of the $20-$50 toys?

Help me see the light... is it the Pokemon collecting aspect? Gotta catch em all? Or do many of the cheap toys actually have a lot of merit and compete well with the elite toys?

Curiosity, for the most part. When I see something interesting that I'd love to try, I don't really care if it's "cheap".
There's some great affordable toys around, but no I don't see them get close to something like a ZXY.
I've had some small/cheap toys that hold up amazingly well against their more expensive counterparts, though. Also makes them great for traveling if that's something you'd bring along. Bang for buck it really would be economically wiser to buy multiple good cheaper holes than one high-end expensive one, but yeah decisions..

Finally, if as a newcomer to onaholes you want to discover the differences between the many kinds of onaholes, it seems more viable to stick to multiple affordable ones rather than buying all the high-end ones just to figure out what kind of stimulation you like the most.
Top recommendations 1: Julia + (intense, realistic sensations at a not-so-intense price) 2: First Sexual Experience (personal favorite)
3: Wet Meiki SHIN (revolutionary soft but gripping material). Honorable Mention: Tomax 2D Wavy Ripple (great for transition hand-> toy)

In my case I bought the cheaper toys because I can turn them inside out for easy cleaning. With Meikis you can'd do that.

There's only but so many "expensive" meiki's after a while it's fun to try other stuff too. Sometimes the cheaper ones are a lot of fun and well...sometimes they end up being tossed out.

I get all kind of different ones..cheap or expensive doesnt matter that much as long it strike my interest in it's form or whatever.. I'd get those cheap tenga eggs just for it's portability where I can take it on trips and stuff being discreet and I agree with Flammz, some of the cheap toys doesn't do all that bad against the expensive ones either.

for me it's all about if it looks interesting to me or not.

Some of the cheaper products look awesome, at least packaging and the pictures look awesome. If it's cheaper too, that's even better, means I can try it without thinking too much about it.

I am sure a lot of us has done this before.

Say you're about to built a computer. You look EVERYWHERE to get the best parts, for the best prices, then once you think you settled on something, you research a bit more, then you doubt yourself even more. Should I pay 50$ for the better graphic card, or $30 less for the motherboard?!?!??! In the end I ended up researching for days and it's all I can think before I sleep, when I wake up, whenever I have free time to research on the computer. All the time I spent researching, if I were to get a 2nd job, I would have been able to build a 2nd computer already!!!

So for one I am glad that they are inexpensive, so I don't need to spend a lot of time on research. Time is money!!!

I think I know why I am so picky about toys, after reading DaaBear's comment. I am a photographer and obsess about the best equipment. I won't buy anything less than the best. In photography there is no reason to buy a crappy lens unless you literally can't afford better, and a crappy lens will only hold you back. I guess I took that same mentality towards my toy mastery!

I think if one is looking at the same style toy then a cheaper toy can be appealing since hey, the high end guys will eventually fall apart so why not try a cheaper guy? Maybe the difference in feeling is minor and they will have the better bang for the buck, especially if their durability is the same as the premium sleeves. Makes sense to be able to buy 2 or 3 sleeves for the price of one if again, feeling is similar.

If it is a totally different style toy then it makes sense as well. For example I LOVE the Tenga 3D sleeves and they are 40 bucks. They are obviously different than my Meiki sleeves yet they feel great so they are good for variety and they are the easiest toys ever to clean and they are mega durable. I also like the flip holes yet the 3D sleeves to me are the better buy. Another thing I like with the 3D sleeves is they have quite different textures which I really can't say the same thing for the NRG Meiki sleeves. Sure I only have two (Maria, Sarah) but they aren't THAT much different (and I am guessing the main difference is simply single vs dual layer rather than canal layout) so it gets to the point for me of why would I want to be dropping $80+ per toy if there is only a minor difference?

I am pretty sure I am done with buying high end sleeves and if I want another Meiki style sleeve I will get one in the under 50 price range and see how it is. The only exception right now is that  Clone Meiki Hoshino which I am debating getting. Other than it, it'd have to take some amazing new Meiki sleeve to get me to buy another one at $80+ and for me the goal of these types of sleeves is realism so it'd have to be more realistic than say the Maria which I am told is still the most realistic.

I buy cheaper toys because of their unique shape or texture. Sometimes a cheap toy used with the right lube can be as good as a meiki.

I personally own a small portion of TD's old and new catalog, but all of them (at least ones that I enjoyed and still kept) exceed the $40 mark with the exception of a few that I absolutely love (best "bang" for the buck).

My own reason behind buying cheaper toys is for testing really. If I find a good toy at an affordable price, I'd want to share it with the forum where newbies will definitely go for answers.
