Since we are such a close community here, I figure we can share some stuff about our personal lives

All my life I have been a cheater. I have been in relationships with 8+ girls, with varying degrees of seriousness. For the past five girlfriends I have cheated on all of them except my current girlfriend (who coincidentally I met by cheating). I think that in the end, it is really destructive behavior. As a young man, I could keep up with juggling two relationships, two hearts, two feelings. But I recently left my girlfriend of nearly five years for my current girl, and for some reason I am not dealing with it well at all. I am looking back on the past seven years (I am 27) and realizing I was wrong for cheating.

It made me realize how destructive it is to waste your years playing around instead working towards building something stronger. In part, I think an ebbing addiction to pornography and availability of sex toys distanced me from the emotional impact of what I was doing to the girls I was dating. Not only the girl I am cheating on gets hurt, but the girl I am cheating with. For these reasons I have decided not to cheat anymore. I also don't hang out with girls alone anymore. I want to do things straight-arrow with my girlfriend and I hope my future wife

So what about you guys? Are you faithful to your girlfriends?

 Don't feel bad and don't regret it. You should be exploring as many different women and relationships as you can. When you're ready to be serious you'll know it and you won't think about cheating. Only time you need to even put "cheating" on the table is when it's the girl you plan to make your wife. If she's not in that lineup forget it. Maybe just live the bachelor life though and try not to get caught in the "relationship" strings if you're not ready for it. Sometimes having a GF is fun and sometimes well, it just gets boring man and you want to try your options. Like you could have a ZR1 but if you saw someone pass by you in an Aventador you're going to forget about your ZR1 and wonder how that Aventador feels if even for a moment. Enjoy life, enjoy women and worry about that stuff when you're ready to settle down. Seems like every person I've ever met that got caught in a Serious relationship in their 20's regrets it because they missed out on getting out there and you know "exploring their options" then when they're in their 30's they just become one of those people trying to make up for lost time.

Just consider what you've done in the past as practice to find out what you really want to settledown with eventually. Like I can eat Pizza all day but if all I eat is Pizza how would I ever know if I'd might like a Taco, or a Steak, or a Chilli Dog, if I never stopped eating pizza everyday to go and try those things.

CaptainAwesome, reading your post really cheered me up and helped me take a different perspective on things. Since what is done is done, I should look on the bright side and be grateful that I had more opportunities to explore different personalities and different people, something that people who are stuck in one relationship for many years often do not get to do. I really enjoyed your analogies, though I had to look up what a ZR1 and Aventador were . I can identify more with taco vs. steak vs. chili dog.

The main thing here is that you have learned, who didn't make mistakes while growing up? We all mature through age and experience? As long as you don't make that same mistake again and ended up hurting yourself and others.
