Meiki Sarah - Got the thing near its launch.  The damn dual layer started coming apart pretty quickly.  Lasted around a month,even with plenty of lube.

Recent regretful purchase: 4 pounds of 'arepa' corn meal dough. I had fond memories of my Mexican and Colombian friends making fried dough with various delicious fillings. In Mexico they are called sope's and stuff is put on top. In Colombia/Venezuela they are called arepas and they are filled.

I bought this yellow dough from the Mexican supermarket. I think it was cornmeal. I opened it up and it had a strange smell. I fried it up but I didn't have any cheese or other ingredients to make it more delicious. So it just tasted like flavorless fried dough. Fried dough can be done well, but this was a pure failure. No amount of salt could revive this dough.

After one week I became afraid of the dough, because if it smelled bad when I opened it fresh, what horrors could await me now? I gathered the courage to throw it out.

$7 down the drain. Oh well, at least I helped the Mexican supermarket.

Man, I feel the same way about Wendy's as you do about BurgerKang.

    The wendy's near me is the worst. Their burgers are like made from week old grease and they slap on layers of mayo on top of that. When I order a single or something by the time I get home my bun is like a doughy mixture of week old grill grease and mayonnaise. I actually used to get sick when I ate them or tried to eat them. Most of the time I only got through 1/4 the burger before throwing it out. They always put on these messed up looking tomatoes on the patties too and brown lettuce. I stopped eating there a long time ago. Kinda sucks because when you find a "good" Wendy's the food is really great but I find less and less and less "good" Wendy's and I'm tired of wasting money getting crappy burgers. Yuck!

I hate Mcdonalds too but the one near me at least makes decent Mcburgers. I only visit them when I have a coupon and am REALLY desperate.

BurgerKang I like the most but they're too expensive. The one near me is excellent though if you go at the right time of day.

I mostly stick to Hardee's for FF burgers. They're burgers are not greasy and they use good beef. But like all FF you have to get it when the cook isn't a complete nincompoop.

I agree on the inconsistencies of the fast food chains. Some McDs are awesome, like one near my work, and some are crap, like ones on my way home.

The one at my work is fresh and tastes not too bad, the one on my way home is dry, small, and just doesn't taste quite right.

I haven't been to BK for a lonnnng time because I also think it's too expensive. Right now fast food is becoming more and more expensive. I have to start looking towards local restaurants and give them money instead. If i was gonna end up paying 6-7$ for a meal, I might as well pay it to ppl that will need it more and put more time into my food than some high school student that's just working like a machine.

I'm starting to think the same way as you Daaaabears.... man..I used to love taco bell when i was younger.. but lately it's price has been raising up and up...almost 20-30% compared to before...

Fast food just isnt the way it used to be..maybe it's inflation maybe cost of raw material...not sure..but I too will be looking into them local eatery to support..

Here in California we have many stand-bys:

1. Mexican taquerías
2. In & Out Burger
3. The Habit Burger

All are in the $5-$10 range and have zero fast-food taste!
