Meiki Sarah
« on: February 10, 2012, 04:34:56 PM »
I'm quite interested in getting this product, but I'm curious about it's durability.  I've read early reviews saying it tears and/or the dual layer separates making it practically unusable.  However, some recent review said they improved the quality, so most of those early problems are gone or less likely.  Can anyone confirm if that is indeed the case?  I just don't want to pick one up and then have it break after 2-3 sessions.  :-\

I have the ZXY, YJY, and Sarah and in my experience Sarah is the only one that hasn't had separation in the dual layer.
My ZXY has the most tearing atm and its become a sticky mess after drying (could it be the adhesive? I'm not sure, but everytime I've had tearing the interior always becomes sticky after drying) and my YJY just started tearing recently  :(
I'm impressed by the Sarah's durability and I've used it more than the ZXY and YJY. It seems they did improve the inner layer quality.  :D

Of course, it also depends on how you handle it. I try to be super careful especially when cleaning and drying my meikis.

Well I have the ZXY, YJY, and Sarah and they all have their layers intact. The only thing I've experienced is slight tears at the entrance of the canal but it's nothing that effect use or sensation of the toy. They go through their rotation(currently with YJY right now) and they still been durable since day one and I prefer to use my toys hands free and rough. I've never had any issues of separated layers with any of my premium modeled Meikis, and always long suspected members complaining about separated layers were most likely turning the toys inside out to clean them. Of course many say that they don't flip their toys inside out to clean and they just rip, but I haven't seen any old TD heads complaining about this issue nor have I experienced myself with new dual layer Meiki. At first I thought maybe I was getting lucky with my toys but I don't think thats the case, just properly take care of good quality toys and they'll take good care of you.

Thanks for the info.  I'm going ahead and buying this one!

I always wondered about peoples' experiences with these toys myself.  More often than not, I agree that it probably comes down to how well people take care of their toys rather than how well they're made.  All my FLs, that I'm glad to say I no longer use since I got my first Meiki, are still as good as the day I got them and they're now over 5 years old.  Whereas, I read people complaining about those as well within the first month or two.

Meiki Sarah is probably my best feeling toy; however, mine started splitting at the entrance pretty early on.  In the beginning I just left the two splits alone thinking they wouldn't travel any further.  However, with each use I noticed that the cracks started migrating into the interior so I had to do something about it.  Therefore, I took my adjustable soldering iron and put it on  it's very lowest setting of 200 C/392 F and melted the central flap of extra material into the developing cracks on both sides. To keep the camel lips open during this process i just inserted a 1 1/2" section of toilet paper tube inside. In hindsight, I probably should have repaired these cracks as soon as they appeared, and that's what I'm going to do in the future with any of my toys. Below are some pictures of before and after.

I only have a ZXY, but the entrance of the dual layer came apart and is practically gone.

I admit that I was pretty rough on it when using it and I did stretch the opening when cleaning it with water (I did not flip it inside out though), but I didn't expect the dual layer to tear and come apart so easily and quickly.

To those of you that have single layered Meikis like the Ozawa, how do they stack up in terms of feeling and durability against the dual layered toys?

YJY, front tore after first use.  2nd use, inside layer started tearing, and continued tearing, losing little bits here and there.  After 14 uses, the bottom front part started tearing and continued tearing until it was soldered.  Have to solder it after 4 or 5 uses now.  After maybe 50 uses, only 40% of the red interior layer remains, but it still feels great.

Maria Ozawa.  Mine had a hole before its first use, and the right bottom had a weak spot.  The top front started tearing at around 10 uses, and it continued to tear but very slowly compared to the dual layer YJY.  Soldered it to fix the tear, but it tore again.  After 21 uses, the bottom right weak spot broke through.  Cut out a huge piece of material from the end to patch it.  It is holding for now.

Meiki Erotic Sister front started tearing maybe after 30 uses.  Only had to solder it once, and it is holding.  The Erotic Sister is more durable than Maria, but the material feels rubbery compared to Maria.  In storage for now.

These toys will not last long.  Like everything else, they will wear out and break down.  Soldering tears is part of the normal required maintenance program.  I do not flip the toys inside out.  Overall, the softer the material, the more easily it will stretch and the longer it will last before tearing.  Single layer toys are more durable that the dual later toys.
The Chinese knock offs for $12 will feel very rubbery, but they are extremely durable.  I had one last more than 180 uses, and the canal just got larger because little bits get scraped off with each use.  It will probably last 300 uses, but since I started using Meikis, the other toys just get put into storage.

As far as Meiki dual layers go, after trying out ZXY, YJY, and Sarah, I think Sarah is by far the best.  The inner layer is more firm, tighter, and feels better than the other dual layered Meikis.  I know a lot of people swear by ZXY and my second time using ZXY made me think "I can see why people like it so much."  However, further sessions using it haven't been as enjoyable.  My ZXY came somewhat defective though.  The lips of the inner layer looked as though the mold wasn't given enough time to cool or it was disrupted because the appearance was somewhat ripped and had unnatural indentations all over.  The inside felt fine, but since I can't really see deeper, I can't say if it really is defective.  The YJY also has its charms.  I can feel the change in direction it goes better than ZXY.

My own ranking:
1) Sarah
2) YJY
3) ZXY

I'm anxious to see what Meiki brings out for Proof 008.
