"The Nostalgia Demon"

BF3
« on: November 14, 2011, 01:56:22 AM »
Haven't really had much time to enjoy the game, been down sick and depressed, I played a few online matches and did kinda okay. I need to upgrade my pc
In order to enjoy the 60+ man servers. But i still love it and i thought i would never get into a single player game its so much fun! Got the Limited Edition too
Can't wait to play Back to Karkand Expansion glad i got my hands on it i love limited edition games!

So far this is what i am working with now

Processor: AMD Athlon X3 425 @ 2.7GHz
Video Card: ATI HD 5770 1GB
Hard Drive:1TB Western Digital, 500GB Western Digital, 300GB Seagate (all SATA connections)
Heatsink: Zalman CNPS7000C-Cu
Power Supply: Antec 550 Watts True Power II
Sound Card: Creative Soundblaster XI-FI Xtreme Music
Motherboard: ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
DVD Drives x2. Plextor DVD-RW/DL/ Sony DVD-ROM Drive via PATA connections

I can manage to play on High but not Ultra settings i really don't mind though I'm
not really into graphics i am into the gameplay/fun factor.

Don't have much to buy to upgrade so here's what my upgrade will look like.

Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition 3.3GHz (4.0GHz O.C.)(6 cores)
Video Card: ATI HD 6870 1GB
Hard Drive:1TB Western Digital, 500GB Western Digital, 300GB Seagate (all SATA connections)
Heatsink: Zalman CNPS7000C-Cu
Power Supply: Corsair TX850W 80 Plus
Sound Card: TBD(gotta see these new cards take up so many slots and covering up my PCI-e x1 slots)
Motherboard: ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
DVD Drives x2. Plextor DVD-RW/DL/ Sony DVD-ROM Drive via PATA connections

I should be able to play the game on ultra settings then, i don't game in 1080p
just 1440x900 16:10 aspect ratio.  So I'm good, I got Forza 4 Limited Editon on
360, and BF3 for PC so i am done this year with buying games, now i gotta wait
till March '12 get here so i can get my hands on Diablo 3!

Oh yeah forgot to mention here are the shots from my game below :)
Enjoy!

I'll post more when ever i have the time.

Take care my bro's on here

very nice upgrade, i have that exact card, 6870 and i use it in eyefinity mode with my 3 24 inch asus 1080p high def monitors, its badass for any gamer. im not that much of a gamer, but when i do game its intense.  i didnt see what RAM you have currently or what you are going to upgrade to, i would suggest 4 GB RAM, g.skillz ripjaws are pretty decent for a good price.  the 5770 card should be able to handle things on max (ultra) settings, and i think your cpu might be slowing down your gpU (what we call bottle necking).  that new card will allow you to play anything, with up to 5 monitors, or at least mine does.

one more thing, if  you are spending that type of cash on a new pc, you should really spend the money and get a new monitor or tv to use as a monitor.  why buy a high end gpu and only use a 1600x900 monitor?  makes no sense at all.  take full advantage of your gpu and go for the 1920x1080p monitor, its DOPE.

Nice PC setup! Graphics look really fantastic there.

I got the console version as a workaround for my PC's lack of power (only a workstation for me atm). After seeing those screenshots, I am inspired to set forth an upgrade plan for my PC.

with your graphics i think your fine playing this game multiplayer =)   I played the beta version but didn't like it compared to the old one...urban warfare is just too fast pace and the way the game is built...newbies are just like sheeps that gets picked off by experienced players with better weapon from stats...which most time makes a horrible experience for newcomers and unfair... but the graphics are pretty good i have to say..with money in hand...i think im going to give COD modern warfare 3 a shot too before i actually decide which one to buy haha

I don't know i may give MW3 a try someday, but i should be set for a little while, i am almost done upgrading my pc
Here are my specs so far :)

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LP 16GB DDR3
*
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Processor, Black Edition 3.3GHz*
Video Card: Sapphire 100314-3L Radeon HD 6870 1GB*
Hard Drive: 1TB Western Digital, 500GB Western Digital, 300GB Seagate (all SATA connections)
Heatsink: Zalman CNPS7000C-Cu
Power Supply: Corsair TX850W 850 Watt SLI/Crossfire Certified*
Sound Card: Creative Labs Soundblaster X-FI Titanium Fatal1ty *
Motherboard: ASUS M4A79XTD EVO (BIOS: 2102*)
DVD Drive(s): Plextor DVD-RW/DL/ Sony DVD-ROM Drive via PATA connections

The ones in bold are what i just upgraded to, I am thinking about getting another 6870 to run it in Crossfire! That will be so sick!! I got some new fans as well, probably going to get a fan controller soon those LCD touch screen fan controllers are cool as hell (no pun intended)

That thing looks so sweet can't wait to get it, i may just get soon though. Because i am going to over clock my processor to 4.8GHz, but if i want to get to 5GHz or more i will have to go water cooling instead. But i shouldnt have to worry about upgrading for a while now. You grow tired of upgrading every year, then bam something else comes out you know.
But i am loving skyrim as well it's so awesome cant wait to try the mods :) Gotta love PC Gaming!!!

Also i got some shots of the Tribes Ascend Beta can't wait till the full release. :) Got everything maxed out!

My CPU is a severe bottleneck. I just did a benchmark in GTA IV, and the CPU was being used 96%, while the graphics card was being used only 50%. It was stupid of me to think a fucking Pentium dual core was capable of running games.

aw man i wish i could of helped you picked the right hardware. I havent touched an Intel product in 12 years, I love AMD,
i've had about 4 AMD processors in a lifetime, and believe it or not the processors are cheaper than intel (some of them)
You would of probably saved even more money converting to AMD bro.

Yeah I know AMD is cheaper, I looked up the Phenom II x6 and was floored by how cheap it is. But then I read the Intel i5 blows away the x6, so I'm going with an i5! :D

i'd have to say when AMD first came out...it was very affordable and very good in processing speed... but over the years Pentium has got back on it's rightful throne and kicked ass..  Will I ever go back to using another AMD chip ??? someday hopefully

That is one badass cooler! But it's way overkill for my needs, I'm not going to be doing any overclocking.

Well I've been addicted to overclocking bro for almost 10 years now it just keeps getting better and better.
I i have my Phenom II X6  overclocked to 4.0GHz for a while saw it was stable went up a bit more.
Highest i got was around 4.8GHz or 4.9GHz i am going to achieve 5.0GHz one of these days if i ever
decide to go the watercooling way, some people have a problem with it but i build about 3 Water Cooled PC's
In my life. It's just soooo pricey and so tacky i hate all those fat tubes all everywhere, and i don't want to buy
another Tower, I've had my Thermaltake Tsnuami Dream windowed/silver for about 6 years and don't plan on
changing it, i posted pix on other board and this guy sold his case though his was black so he wanted mine lol
That's never happening!

Guess I'll post some screenshots on here of my rig someday just installed my NZXT Fan Controller
to keep things cool a little.

Aw what the heck i'll post some now, i am going to take it down again still undecided about my cooler.
though, i have a passion for comps i feel like shit and need to be in the hospital while i am over here
upgrading my pc. But my Zalman CNPS9900MAXB is the first PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) CPU Cooler i ever owned.
Been a big fan of Zalman for years those koreans make great products :)

This is what it looks like installing it lol

That is a SICK rig! I'm still browsing for motherboards, those suckers are expensive! But the way I look at it, I spend my waking hours on the computer, so why not also game on the computer? It just makes sense.

Thanks bro :)

Let me know or email me
what you going for, AMD board or Intel motherboard
You should really give ATI/AMD Graphics a try man
you'll be amazed. Just don't go out and buy anyboard

Remember bro the two most important investments.

Your Meiki's
& Your Rig

that is your biggest investments right there, so you want to
buy something that's worth your money and good with alot
of helpful features.

Oh forgot to add these pics last night of my rig at night
