Meikie Maintenance Help
« on: August 31, 2011, 07:21:25 PM »
Hi, I was wondering if any Meikie product owners could give me some tips on how to keep the toy in good shape, I ordered a ZXY and its due to arrive soon.

All I know right now that:
1. You should not use shampoo on it
2. It should be properly dried before it is stowed away.
3. Do not turn inside out

Can anyone help me add to this list of do and donts?

Also, someone mentioned on the forum that "powdering" the toy with corn starch helps keep it from drying up and becoming hard. How exactly do you "powder" these.. it sounds like a very bad idea since any contact with water would turn it into a giant sticky mess.

I dont plan on pounding the shit out of this toy so im not too worried about tearing, my main concern is keeping it out-of-the-box soft for as long as possible, so any tips on how to achieve that would be really appreciated... has anyone tried moisturizer on it or a moisturizing soap like "Dove?"

Thx in advance

Hi welcome to the forums.

Your list is a good one for sure.  Although I have used anti-bacterial soap on mine I don't anymore.  All I use is hot water to rinse out the sleeve once I am done using it, that is a must, clean it right after use.  Don't allow it to sit over night without cleaning it.  Y

You do not have powder it with corn starch if you don't want to, I simply don't have the time to and it never bothered me, it does get a little bit sticky but that isn't an issue for me.  You can use soap on it if you want, I've used some harsh soap on it and never had any bad effects from it, but I would just say to use hot water, it does the trick and works well.

Rubbing alcohol is another safe alternative that many forum members here use to clean it, without risking the sleeve deteriorating from soap over time, as that tends to happen with other sex toys like fleshlights (which to me are junk).

Ah thanks, for the tips. BTW, your review was one of the many that i read on this forum that convinced me to get the ZXY, so thx.

Depending on what people say about Sarah, I might get that one sometime down the line.. it looked super tight and.. a lot like a mad rollercoaster so i shyed away for it for my first meikie lol.

ZXY is by far my best sleeve (in tie with hoshino I have a thing for soft sleeves), IMO.  I will see if Sarah can beat it, but I really doubt that.  It was a great choice on your part and I know you will speak highly of it, glad to help.

Heh, I must be a bit paranoid about germs, because I use both soap/warm water and alcohol for a final rinse.  Any stickiness resulting when the material dries does go away -  in the canal and opening at least - as soon as you lube your toy.  If having the outside of your toy remain sticky bothers you, lube it too (talk about life's challenges, try that once and you'll never do it again, I promise!) or apply corn starch to remedy.
