The importance of lube?
« on: January 18, 2011, 01:43:22 AM »
I'd like to ask a question that's on the mind of any buyer looking at toys that are significant monetary investments; "Do I really have to pay for lube too?"

*cough*

I'm rather new to the hobby. Bought a Mikuty Futureloid Pocket because it was affordable (not because I was depressed that day), and I'm rather pleased with it despite the negative reviews.

I've read the warnings of not using shampoo or silicon-based lube on the toys. But on that note, how important is it to use lube at all? Is lube about the experience, or is it about keeping the toy in pristine condition? I've found that bar soap and water do just fine as a cheap and affordable substitute. Using it without lube at all worked fine too.

I guess this is one detail I'd want to know inside out before I move on to purchase something more expensive. >.>a

Lube is for just what it is...lubricating the toy so your stroking session will be smooth..not to mention...if you go without any lube...the friction of the silicone against your penis would probably rip your skin.. Silicone based lubricants will disintegrate the silicone based toys (pretty much all of them)...Not sure how good is soapy water... Lube are pretty cheap....DO NOT GO WITHOUT IT!!! ;)

Using a toy with out lube??  is that possible?  I don't think I could bear the thought of even trying to get in without lube but to actually stroke it...
Maybe that is how a dog penis got made the way that it is  LOL  Just peal the skin back from the bone 8^O  (thats where the dog learned to howl "yeooooooowl")

You people all work for lube factories. Bias~ XD

I think I'll pick up a bottle the next time I see one. But really, the Mikuty slides fine without the lube. Maybe it's constructed really well, for beginners like me who are too cheap to buy lube the first time. Or maybe it's constructed really poorly, without enough surface area to stimulate anything. I dunno. =/

Hey if you can use your toy with no lube more power to ya, but ouch does that sound uncomfortable. I can't even slip my fingers in most of my toys unlubed. We don't work for any lube companies haha, we just know that a good lube can really bring out the most pleasurable experience possible. Like stated before lube is pretty cheap, any drug store that sells lubricant often have a very low cost store brand. While they might not be the best the world has to offer they work fine in a pinch and are much better than soapy water lol. Also the more expensive lubes TD carries last for quite some time unless you're a lube hog.

you can buy 4oz jelly lube at any drug store over the counter by the condoms/pregnancy tests for about 4 bucks.
soap is somewhat low in pH meaning it is slightly caustic, which will burn like hell if it gets into your urethra.

don't work or represent any lube company.  have you ever had a real female?  Do  you just climb on and jamb it in?  She is OK with this?
all I can say is try it - you'll like it!
astroglide, KY, walmart generic ky, I say NO to soap or shampoo!  had to pee 3x to get that burn to quit :\
even a healthy amount of spit may do - like lickin the kitty hahaha.
The stuff that came with my demon girl seemed thicker that plaster but man it was nice ;D  does it come in the economical quart size?
I am a cheap skate too but got to have lube!  ky like products are OK but if ya add some water they are better. start out with just a little and experiment to find the sweet spot. too much and it gets runny and messy :P  I have mixed generic ky ($2) and astroglide with good result (between 1/3 astroglide up to 1/2) because astroglide is so dam expensive.  but mixing a bit of water (in a small squeese bottle) with the ky like stuff - shake like crazy - let set over night and see how it works - adjust the mix till ya got it custom to your likes.
Then there are those times when I go crazy and have lube drippin off the nut while givin the toy the what for  whoo hoo :D

Like others have said, you will have great difficulty just getting inside any unlubed toy, let alone having any fun.

Hello! I don't have much to say but hello!

Simply said, if you're not planning on using lube for your toys, you might as well go back to hands or a sock because I've been there, done it, used soap/bodywash and saliva (yes I did have enough at the time) and found that soap is only good if you have the proper environment to clean it after and saliva can be tricky to handle (seeing how its almost completely water just a little stickier).

Different types of lube offers different levels of resistance and endurance for your session. Trust me, using lube is a lot better than using none at all or using other impractical alternatives.

I am personally using Tenga's White Hole Lotion because I find it last long and has a slight bit of re-usability (if I wanted to go another round for example). I used to use Climax H2O but found that it leaves an odour if you do not wash immediately (for one of those days when you're in a rush), whereas the Tenga lotion doesn't leave much behind. I used a good 40% of my first of two bottles and I say that I am satisfied with it.

I'm ordering 2 Tenga Red lotion to see how that goes, but I will not be getting Black lotion because I know what it is capable of.

Hope the gibberish up there helps.

....there's something wrong with Tenga Black lotion? It probably would've been the first one I considered, had I naively walked into a store. Sticky and wild; isn't that the point of using lotion in the first place?

Does this mean there's a list of lotions that are horrible beyond what their price point suggests? Are there cheap lotions that are too cheaply made to be worth the while?

There's nothing with Tenga's black lotion, it's been a while since I've used the Tenga lotions but the black was my favorite.

Theres's so many different lubes on the market that it may be impractical to make a list of which ones are worth their weight in hard earned cash. With lube it's kinda something you gotta try until you find one that right for you. Start off with the cheap ones and sample bottles then work your way up to the more expensive ones. Heck If you gimme a day or so to finish my little experiment I'll teach you how to make your own lube out of safe natural ingredients and it's very cheap and easy to make as well.
