Anyone getting the new Apple iPad that's coming out in a coule of weeks?

I pre-ordered one and I can't wait for it!!!

I ordered the 16 gig one, hopefully it's as good as apple's ad says..haha..now i can finally watch videos or browse websites or better yet.. order TD toys when im on the can...

if the iPad came with a stylus then perhaps I'd be obliged to order/purchase it, but because the lack thereof, I'm not entirely convinced that the world appreciates an oversized iPod Touch.

What I am excited to see from the iPad is the lack of Flash support in favour of HTML 5. To be honest, I seriously think that Toy Demon should make their new site under HTML 5, even if it means training their staff to know it; its not a drastic jump between 4 to 5, its only a few tags being changed to ease the scripting.

if the iPad stands for anything, its the revolution against Flash. Hooray for Java and HTML 5.

I think ipad's purpose is much different than anyone who's used to a laptop/netbook, which are for running application and do work on.. ipod touch / ipad are probably created for the rest of the world who doesn't really do all that much work on the computer.. to simply use it for browsing the internet and watching videos etc..more like a efficient entertainment center.

The iPad is designed for internet use, pretty much like the Google Chrome OS idea where everything can be done on the net. The difference is that iPad uses apps while Chrome OS uses Internet shortcuts. Laptops will still have a place because they're more game/work oriented. Any product from Apple is a toy.

I am pretty excited as I will use it to read manga, watch anime, and not to mention that it will be easy to get a couple of videos on it to take with me to the bathroom.........if you know what I mean.

I'll post an impression once I get it on Saturday!!

Ok, so I have had the iPad since launch now, and here's what I think about it:

Good:

The thing is awesome. The screen is amazing, pictures on it look soooo soooo good. Browsing on the iPad is a breeze and the form factor lets me do it almost anywhere I want around the house (in bed, in bathroom, in kitchen, while watching tv). The size is also perfect for reading manga!!! I read all of my favorite manga on the iPad and it is just great. I have literally cut down my laptop and desktop usage by about 80% (I also bought this app called logmein ignition which lets me remote desktop all my pcs), I only use the laptop/desktop for heavy workload, everything else I do it on the iPad now and I actually like it better.

The app store is pretty sweet. Bear in mind that this is the first apple product I own, so all of these things are new to me. Just trying different apps like ABC Player (which is awesome for watching all the ABC shows and it has awesome video quality), USA Today (which is also awesome), and this app called Air Video which converts all your videos on your pc on the fly and stream it to your iPad (I can actually watch all the anime and porn of course anywhere in my house without having to sit there and convert those videos). All the apps made the iPad extremely useful and handy and the games on the iPad, though not as deep as say a PSP or DS game, really has it's qu. I hate to say it, but the cliche "there's an app for that" really rings true and I love it!

Bad:

No multitasking. This prolly comes as no surprise to anyone. I dislike how I can't chat, then play a game on iPad, and then go back to the chat to see what ppl has written. However, iPhone OS 4.0 has been announced with support for multitasking and iPad will get it in the fall, I'll have to see how that changes the whole experience.


Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the iPad as it has pretty much replaced my web browsing at home. I can't wait till there are cooler, more fun apps designed specifically for the iPad.

Actually the fact that Apple declared war against Flash is a dumb idea. Apple actually thought that they're doing a noble and smart thing by attempting to destroy Flash when in reality, there is as much counter force as there are people supporting HTML 5.

Reason being that Apple did not check Adobe's latest release of Flash, which comes with greater capabilities as well as more features. The only thing HTML 5 can ever replace is the video player. The reason why people were so hyped about HTML 5 (being how little people know about it) is because they have a computer giant like Apple riding in front of it and EVERYONE knows that Apple is ever-so-awesome at making toys. Except for the Mac Pro G5 with dual-Intel Xeon CPUs.
