Best way to recharge TENGA Warming Stick (Hole Warmer) without damaging it
« on: January 14, 2010, 12:16:36 PM »
We've tested many variation to best recharge the TENGA warming stick without damaging it.
This is the best combination of being easy and safe. (Pictures will come later)

Although we believe this is the best way, we are not responsible for any damage from this method. Please use at your own discretion and always be cautious.

After using it the first time, the stick now looks solid and cloudy in color.

To recharge it:

First place it in a microwave safe cup with enough water to cover the stick

Next microwave it at intervals of 20-30 secs depending on your microwave wattage (we use 20 sec with 1100 watt microwave)

Repeat last step until you see all crystals inside has melted (it took about 1 minute total time for us)

Take it out and let it cool down for its next use.

This took us a total of 2-3 mins to do and is a really great way to recharge it without shortening its life.

Have you found any indications to how many times this can be recharged before it stops working?

There's really no scientific reason it would "magically" stop recharging. Officially TENGA state the number at 30 before something breaks.
We are working to lower the price on the new ones so that they are so economical that it wouldn't matter if they stop at 30.

The original instructions from TENGA lead to lots of sticks breaking down and "melting" in the microwave.
We have always felt that the stick was better than the electrical one but new instructions were needed.

Also many people didn't understand how to start it, which is simply bending the metal clip back and forth until it starts.
Sometimes it only takes one bend, there are other times when 10 bends before the crystalization happens.

Thanks for the tips on how to use the hole warmer.. I tried the stick it in a cup of water and microwave it for 20-30 sec intervals and it worked quite well.. very simple to use with the right instruction hehe..hopefully TENGA can make something more clear in English so customers can figure out how to use these things without any doubt of accidentally breaking it.. ;D

The original ones were a limited productions item and was discontinued when TENGA Warmer was launched. However the TENGA Warmer is not CE certified and is only limited to selling within Japan. TENGA then relaunch the stick redesigned a little bit which is the one we currently carry.

I recently bought one and am awaiting it in the mail. From what I've read, it's suggested that you boil the stick over the stove in a pot (boiling water) until it resets.

Was the microwave a better choice? or just more convenient than the stove?

Also, I'm curious why they claim only 30 times? Is this a pattern with tenga? I think they originally said that about the flipholes. That they would only last X amount of uses. But the tenga fliphole is easily a lifetime product or at the very least a few years.

Is there anything in the warmer that would cause it to breakdown? I know I use the reverse of this.. it's a cooling tie for your neck or wrist bands or hat, etc. it has crystals and it absorbs temp from cold water to keep you cool in the summer. It's not exactly the same but somewhat similar, and that thing seems like it would never break down.

So just curious.. Is the tenga warmer something that would stop working after 30 times due to it being mishandled? Or was it actually designed for limited use?

How exactly does the chemical reaction work? Is there something in the disc that gets released? or does the disc act as a catalyst for the crystals to change form?  I'm just trying to figure out why the device would fail. Simply boiling a wide pot of water with the stick in it seems simple enough to reset it. This way you can literally watch as the device resets. With the microwave you can't watch it as closely.
