Preventing darkening of toy
« on: October 12, 2013, 12:30:40 AM »
So i noticed that parts of my toy is starting to 'darken' there are like black spots probably dirt or whatever and i can't seem to remove them. I've tried water rinse and rub, using a towel and also using corn starch once every month. gota keep that clean pink skin look

Yeah the more skinlike and softer the material the more it attracts dirt and lint. Once it gets dirty you can clean it but some of the dirt just melds into the material and scrubbing with soap and water won't get rid of it.

The only thing I've found that works is preventing dirt from getting on it at all. Once you are finished, wash it and then dry it with a towel. Then powder it with corn starch, this will keep it soft instead of being a sticky dirt magnet. Immediately after drying with a towel, wrap it in a plastic bag or a clean towel and store it. Unless you are perfect every time it will get dirty after a year or two. Then it is time to buy a new one.

My process is wash with water in and out, dry with a towel, leave it to air dry for 2 hours then throw it in a box

A little dab of alcohol works in small spots, but if the skin has too darkening, it's time to invest in a new one

Has anyone tried storing in air-free bag, the kind sold everywhere you close with a vacuum cleaner?
Would help if problem is exposure to air or moisture, not if it's the chemistry inside.
