I checked their poll, and first was to just get rid of free shipping, but lower the fees for all the other paid shipping methods.

I guess that works too since I always pay for FedEx shipping and don't trust USPS with my free shipping, I'd be saving money if they changed to that.

I also like option 2. I think free shipping probably still cost retailers bunch, and if they raise the threshold to 100, they will be able to ditch the crap like smartpost and maybe I would use free shipping again.

But in the end, I think ppl will vote to have it stay the same. People don't want to spend money at all when it comes to shipping.

As for the ppl complaining about free shipping..........I really don't get it. Do you go to a restaurant and ask for water, but when you get it your plain water you complain to the waiter and go, "why is this not sparkling water?!?!?"  TD's new site lists the estimated times for paid shipping methods and obviously Free Shipping being the cheapest is not gonna have any guarantees. And they tell you that upfront, what more do you need? If you think it's too slow, than fucking pay for it.

I have worked retail before when I was younger and I hate these self centered, entitled customers. The world DOES NOT revolve around you, if you don't like what they have to offer, then go somewhere else and stop bitching. I wonder if these ppl bitch about the Mini Meiki they bu  and then go, why isn't my Mini Meiki like the Meiki Ozawa? Fucking morons.

So option A is lower all shipping fee without "free shipping" program. Seems fair, but I think they'll lower each fee evenly on each method. Not too good, I am with you on Fedex Ground selection. The rest are irrelevant to me.

I think TD will used Fedex Ground as option B for "free shipping" program at 100$ plus. In my opinion, it is a win win situation on either party. What is another 40$ in seperation of the amount require? So far, my two order has been above 100$ Truth the matter is I want "free shipping" program that have full tracking capability.

Your message are loud and clear regarding your USPS mishaps. Yes, I have read your post concerning your bad experience. I think all three service are the same when shipping goes bad. They will give you a hard time, everyone has to go through the same exact process regardless of who you are. They must investigate and or  interogate  as fraudalent until proven innocent.  :-X

I also voted for Option B.. which improve shipping method with free shipping at $100.. thinking back..i'm like phillip where most of my orders are easily over $100 so it's a no brainer if the shipment is free with a reliable and up to date tracking. Whether it be UPS or FedEx...it's all good.. anything but USPS..those guys are just not up to par with the service they've desperately advertising on TV ads..... tracking almost make no sense when the package shows up a few days after tracking shows delivered...how does that even happen.. : :(

Heck yeah @ Hardgay. In logistics, when  placing an order; you will want to supply yourself in long term scenarioa. That can easily brings the amount up over $100. Should you be short 5 - 10 dollar of the requirement for free shipping. Just add in a cock ring or lubes. Can't go wrong there, and the challenge of purchasing items over the $100 requirement can be entertaining whilst shopping.  :) ;D

Why not tiers?  ???

I imagine there is some logistical reason why we'd have to kill off free smartpost shipping in order to improve the shipping experience.

For me though, there is utility in both options.

Some times its a one or two item fill in buy, usually modest in cost, that can take its time rolling to me. Smartpost works well for this as Im not needlessly adding to my expense to simply top off supplies (lube, bags, what have you)

When I place a larger order, say $200 or so, then yeah, a higher quality ship would be beneficial for me and TDemon as well. (for tracking, customer satisfaction, etc., etc.)

The trick is to identify core customer types and fit the options to those as best you can.

First timers: They are often taking a flier on this whole "Meiki" thing they've heard about. Usually a couple or so items, modest priced, just to get a feel for the products, if this stuff will be to their liking. Totally understand them not wanting to drop 10% or more of purchase price on shipping when they already are taking a leap of faith by trying a purchase.

Its rather imposing psychologically. And the $100 threshold (for a first timer) to get free shipping I think is especially so(think "things ending in .99 versus whole dollars, double digit cost vs triple digit) I understand these customers. I was one. Slow but free shipping absolutely made the sale. I imagine there are others similar.

Stock ups I try my best to big order as much as possible but things fall through the cracks. I'll need to restock my lotion spares, replace a rough looking storage bag, things like that. My top ups don't usually run 3 digits. If they do, I typically wait for the next sale or just go another direction altogether.

In between sales/new products/new hotness  If there is ANYTHING I think could benefit both TD and us faithful, its getting new products to as many people as possible.  Theirs a LOT of old standbys here which is great but I cant help but think some great stuff is seriously falling through the cracks. The forum members I respect most are the trailblazers. Perhaps its in their natures to take a flyer on unknowns but that doesnt make their contributions any less awesome.  Id identify these guys ASAP (myself excluded, Im not fishing for products) and at the very least offer some above the norm compensation. (say higher review points, free premium shipping on new (to TD) products, similar rewards to that)

These guys almost always pay the first class price and have the least likely chance of having a first class experience (as they are flying solo) You have to take care of these guys.  They're the ones that turn lesser known products into superstars.

Whales Not sure where the breakpoint is on "whaledom" but I imagine TD is very aware of it.  At that point and above, its better to not futz about with shipping nickle and diming. These guys (myself especially) would much prefer product  (or investing more in an order) than service bumps here and there. Give me a threshold to meet for whatever service bumps you can/wish to provide (say $250+ orders) and 99 times out of a 100 Im going to meet it. (throw in more gear = spend more money) When Im flying lose with plastic like that (trying extra things as opposed to sticking to a rigorous, set list) Its a value mindset. I'm going to buy 100% of my must haves regardless.  But those products Im 50/50 on?  I will chance those (and probably more than I should  :P) to make a shipping threshold.  And the more product you get into our homes, the better info you get on what you need to stock lots more of (ever noticed how one product will go firestorm in an instant here based on even just a couple reviews?) and what can fall by the wayside.

I think it's obvious that I'm of the "pro free shipping" mindset.  For me, personally, the products I have acquired are far more relevant to my day to day than the shipping service was (though Ive not yet had a truly horrible experience) Way I see it, TD is selling product which does require some base level of service to reach you. The more PRODUCT they get out there, the better it is for us all honestly.  (more reviews, more revenue, site improvements, rewards, etc etc) I see the shipping as a necessary evil and admit there are times when the need for service will trump the need for product.

Thats why I say give us all the options you reasonably can.

Smartpost for those who are better served on this order minimizing cost @ the sake of service times.

Thresholds to entice us to buy and try more product than we otherwise would in exchange for some more cushy shipping if smartpost isnt to our liking.

I don't envy the one who has to figure it all out but I do think flexibility within the shipping options (without us having to cough up straight cash) benefits us all greatly.

More product = more happy willies = more discussions = more sales.

On the topic of shipping, I wanted to note that I find it abit much for shipping. The lowest option I could find was a priority shipping. Be it the store is in US and I am in Canada I understand that it would cost more. However, some people may be ok with a longer wait time for lower shipping costs. Maybe that is something to consider

I think international is what's destroying you. Shippers have to compete far more aggresively on domestic parcels than international. Plus, the setup process is rough and time consuming (so its hard to bounce from carrier to carrier)

Not that I expect it to sooth you all that much but do keep in mind how awful it would be if we still had to go direct. The postage from the pacific is almost always more than the product for me,  hence my only buying really expensive, light, impossible to find anywhere else stuff. (cell phones, small electronics, etc)
