Hey guys! I was wondering where you would use the tracking number that comes along with the free shipping for your orders. Any Ideas??? Does It actually tell you if your order is in transit like ups or fed ex???

Yes, try it on the Fedex website.

I learned this trick a few weeks ago...never know it before... copy and paste your tracking number and just look it up on google...and they actually will find the service that uses that tracking number for you.haha

if you looked thru the forum, there's a few threads about shipping.

FedEx SmartPost is a mixture of FedEx/USPS. FedEx handles the part from the shipper to the Post Office, Post Office handles the delivery.

Personally I don't care for it as it feels slower and the more ppl are involved, the higher the chance of something going wrong. I always just choose fedex ground shipping so I get a peace of mind knowing that it'll be fully trackable. However, that's not saying smart post is crap as I have always received items with FedEx SmartPost no problem the few times I used free shipping from TD.

I actually did some investigation on Fedex Smartpost. On Amazon prime, they ship out to Fedex smartpost as well. I am asking around because in the mere future, I may want to  buy a single item and used Fedex smartpost to saved some money, and also to see how trustworthy  their system are.

  Fedex Ground just altered my estimated time of delivery from wednesday to friday. Grr

I've noticed the same thing lately about amazon...I have amazon prime account (Free 2day shipping) but things i bought lately are delivered through smartpost from the post man... it still gets to me within 2 days..I wonder if that's just because amazon have warehouse all over the place that they can afford to use smartpost and still deliver the pkg on time... they're a totally different beast haha or they might just have a special deal with all shipping carriers.

Most of the time Fedex Smartpost is poorly delivered, but in some circumstances they are average.

You realize that smart post is delivered by the post office right? So that's basically why I hate the USPS.

I wish they'd go down and get privatized by either FedEx or UPS.

I've already written about my great experience with the free shipping option here, so forgive me if I'm being repetitive.  I was very fortunate with my recent SmartPost shipment of my MPD.  It was handled by FedEx the entire time (no USPS involvement) and looked no different than FedEx ground -- apart from the fact that I saved $22 on the order by choosing free SmartPost.  That may have something to do with the shipping route though, which was from IL to TX.  Perhaps other routes would require USPS involvement on one leg of the delivery.

The box arrived in perfect shape and had to be signed for, and I couldn't be happier.  It's nice to know that the only real dilemma I have is finding a place to hide this doll so my gf doesn't find it...

It also depends on where you live and the reliability of carriers in your specific area.
