Poor man's hip
« on: August 23, 2012, 07:22:56 AM »
The Thomas Edison in me came up with a cheap alternative for hands-free meiki use.

At my local hardware store, they often have these back reset cushions on sale for less then $10.   They are nicely sized and are filled with pretty dense stuffing.  Looks similar to the attached pic.

I cut a hole on the bottom and sewed in a sock to keep the cheap stuffing from fallling out (it is a messy mix of random crap).  This gives a nice support hole for the meiki....I found it also works great with the Cobra Libre.

If you can view the cushion flipped over, so that the "legs" are supporting it, I think you can picture the use.  Someone more skilled in sewing could probably tailor the shape into something more attractive, but for me it is function over form.

Wow that's an awesome mod. I was pondering about modding one of my throw pillows like this.

These are on sale at walmart for hella cheap in the back to school section or wherever the beanbags are. I had seen this thread a day or two before actually, so I had to check them out for size and feel when I saw a giant bin of them. I think they were like 10?

+1

I approve of this statement. Not because a poor man's hip is his wife, but because it's his hip of a wife that makes him into a poor man.  ;D
